 CANOE / KAYAK / DUCKY / TUBE / RAFT   RIVER TRIPS:

Many of our customers who visit us for the first time have never been in a canoe/kayak/ducky/raft/tube or have little experience. We always take the time to acquaint them with the watercraft, paddling and steering techniques, and with safety rules before shuttling them to the "put-in". Each watercraft rental includes canoe/kayak/ducky/raft  paddles, life vests, detailed river map of selected trip and shuttle service to and from the river.

GROUP TRIPS:

We are happy to plan river outings for any size group. A day on the river will help build morale and a spirit of teamwork among members. We recommend river outings for scouts, youth groups, church groups, business groups as well as for other organizations. Call us explaining the size of your group, the length of time you want to spend on the river, lodging arrangements, and the paddling experience of your members. We will respond promptly with suggested trips and a current estimate of total costs.

FAMILY RIVER ADVENTURE TRIPS:

These trips were designed for families with younger children and the beginner/novice paddler and are a great choice for family picnics, fishing, exploring, swimming and just plain having fun. For your convenience we provide child-size life jackets, extra seating, safety instructions, paddling techniques, river maps and shuttle service to and from the river. Talk with us, we will gladly assist you in choosing the right trip to meet your needs.

GENERAL PADDLING INFORMATION:

What to Wear in Chilly Weather:

• Wet suit rentals available
• Waterproof jacket
• Wool clothing (wool retains body heat when wet)
• Polypropylene underwear

WHAT TO WEAR IN WARM WEATHER:

• Swim suit or shorts
• Tee shirt
• Windbreaker
• Note: in all cases, tennis shoes or wet suit booties are required.

WHAT TO BRING:

• An old pair of sneakers (river rocks are sharp)
• A change of clothing (just in case)
• Plastic bag to keep things dry and contain all trash
• A picnic lunch and your bathing suit
• Drinking water - it gets thirsty on the river, bring plenty
• Suntan lotion and a hat
• Your fishing gear and license - our river shop offers bait, tackle and fishing license for sale.
• Your camping gear - We offer limited supplies of tents, sleeping bags and camping equipment.
• Insect spray - it only gets bothersome in the evening.
• Bring along any personal items that will make your trip more enjoyable, but remember that whatever you put into your canoe could get wet or lost. We are not responsible for items lost overboard. For your convenience our River Shop rents dry bags and dry boxes.

RESERVATIONS:

We strongly recommend reservations, especially on weekends and holidays. Reservations should be made at least two weeks in advance. However, we quite often have watercraft available at the last moment. If you decide to paddle on the spur of the moment, give us a call at 1-800-775-2203. A 50% deposit is required for reservation confirmation. Reservation deposits are handled in the following manner. By mail we accept checks or money orders.  Your VISA or MASTERCARD may only be used to confirm and secure your reservation for ten days to allow for the mailing of your deposit.  Upon arrival the full amount must be paid by cash, check or money order. Your card will not be charged unless you fail to properly cancel your reservation.

LIABILITY:

All precautions are taken to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip with the Greenbrier River Company. However, canoeing and camping on the river are not without risk, you participate in this activity at at your own risk. The Greenbrier River Company cannot assume liability for personal injury or damage or loss of personal property. All persons are required to read and sign an assumption of risk form. All persons under the age of eighteen (18) must have the signature of a parent or guardian. These forms are available upon request.

• Styrofoam coolers
• Firearms
• Children under the age of 3
• Four adults in one canoe
• Drugs or persons under their influence
